August ended as the third month this year with negative returns from the frontier markets (excluding the Middle East) as MSCI Frontier Markets xGCC fell 1.1% in SEK. Individual countries varied substantially, with Pakistan (-8.3%) and Argentina (-12.4%) underperforming, and Bangladesh (+12,9%) and Vietnam (+9,7%) outperforming.
Eight months into the year, frontier markets have returned 17.8%. This is the best return for the January-August period since 2007.
